4th Class have been learning all about the Famine over the last few weeks. We have learned about the blight, soup kitchens, workhouses and emigration. Mr Moriarty’s class made projects after doing some extra research. Today we went on a trip to the Jeanie Johnston replica famine ship in the city centre. We learned that 200 passengers made the dangerous voyage across the Atlantic on this ship. Conditions were very tough on board with 10 children sharing a bunk bed each and only 30 minutes up on deck permitted each day. It was fascinating to experience life on the tall ship.

4th Class have been learning to play Gaelic football for PE during September and October. We have focused on skills such as hand passing, kick passing and soloing the ball. Last week we went to Good Counsel GAA club and played an in-house fun blitz to help us prepare for future matches against other schools. We had great fun with lots of skills on show. Well done to the blue team who won our tournament.

We had great fun celebrating Halloween in 4th class. We used our imaginations writing Halloween themed procedural writing and looked at the history of Halloween. For music, we chose an Halloween theme and used percussion instruments to recreate that scene, such as a haunted house.  Our Halloween walk was a great success. We enjoyed showing off our costumes on our walk around Inchicore.

4th class got the chance to try out our new playroom for the senior children in the school. We had a wonderful afternoon getting creative with the kinetic sand and playdough and building our team work skills playing card games and giant connect 4.

Last Friday, 4th Class took on the big job of hosting and presenting the Senior Assembly and they did a fantastic job! The pupils showed off their public speaking skills as they stood up in front of a large crowd of students and teachers. They spoke clearly, confidently, and kept everyone engaged from start to finish.

Well done to all of 4th Class for their hard work and teamwork in preparing for the assembly. You should all be very proud of yourselves!
