We had great fun in 2nd class for Maths week. We created our own board games in pairs, brainstorming ideas first and then designing the game. There was lots of excitement in the room when we got to explain our games and play them!
6th class played Maths games with us in the hall and this was a real hit with 2nd class. We really enjoyed learning new games and interacting with 6th class.
We also enjoyed maths4fun this week with board games and interactive games and writing in our Maths journals.
We also got to try out our new game room for golden time. We had funny puppet shows, drawing stations and kinetic sand stations. Everyone had great fun and really enjoyed it!
4th class got the chance to try out our new playroom for the senior children in the school. We had a wonderful afternoon getting creative with the kinetic sand and playdough and building our team work skills playing card games and giant connect 4.
Last Friday, 4th Class took on the big job of hosting and presenting the Senior Assembly and they did a fantastic job! The pupils showed off their public speaking skills as they stood up in front of a large crowd of students and teachers. They spoke clearly, confidently, and kept everyone engaged from start to finish.
Well done to all of 4th Class for their hard work and teamwork in preparing for the assembly. You should all be very proud of yourselves!
This week, 4th Class have been learning all about gravity and the centre of gravity. We had great fun putting our learning into action by making our own simple seesaws to test how gravity works and how balance affects movement. The class did a fantastic job experimenting and predicting what would happen. We have some very impressive scientists in the making!
First few weeks in Junior infants
We've had a very busy few weeks in Junior infants. We have been having a great time making new friends and learning all about the school rules. Junior infants have been working so hard completing patterns in maths as well as learning all about Autumn. Last week we went on our beep beep walk where we learned all about how to cross the road safely. The walk was a big success and thoroughly enjoyed by all!

We have had a fantastic start to the year in 2nd class with a fun filled September. We are having lots of fun in Maths playing board games and interactive games with everyone getting involved.
During Roald Dahl week we performed our own twist on the song Oompa Loompa! It was creative and engaging and everyone had lots of fun in the process!
Our class has been learning about the incredible artist Alma Thomas. She loved using bright colours and repeating shapes to make her paintings look like mosaics. We looked at her artworks “Pansies in Washington” and “The Eclipse”.
Inspired by her style, we created our own mosaic-style pictures. We used lots of colours and different patterns to make our art stand out-just like Alma Thomas did.
The results are so effective and full of energy! Each piece shows off creativity, imagination, and the joy of making art. 🎨✨
Last Friday we visited Kilmainham Gaol. We have been learning about Kilmainham Gaol this past month. In Kilmainham Gaol, we saw where the 1916 leaders were executed. It made us feel uneasy as if we were standing on their blood and their presence was all around us. We saw the old wing and the new wing of the Gaol. Our tour guide got us to walk in a circle outside in the courtyard to mimic the exercises prisoners used to do. We were allowed to walk around the museum at the end of the tour and we saw Grace Gifford's ring as well as other artefacts from the Gaol.
