News - 4th class: Ms. Cassidy
Last Friday, 4th Class took on the big job of hosting and presenting the Senior Assembly and they did a fantastic job! The pupils showed off their public speaking skills as they stood up in front of a large crowd of students and teachers. They spoke clearly, confidently, and kept everyone engaged from start to finish.
Well done to all of 4th Class for their hard work and teamwork in preparing for the assembly. You should all be very proud of yourselves!
Last Friday we visited Kilmainham Gaol. We have been learning about Kilmainham Gaol this past month. In Kilmainham Gaol, we saw where the 1916 leaders were executed. It made us feel uneasy as if we were standing on their blood and their presence was all around us. We saw the old wing and the new wing of the Gaol. Our tour guide got us to walk in a circle outside in the courtyard to mimic the exercises prisoners used to do. We were allowed to walk around the museum at the end of the tour and we saw Grace Gifford's ring as well as other artefacts from the Gaol.
We have been learning all about the famous local historical site Kilmainham Gaol in September. We learned about prison life, reasons prisoners were sent to Kilmainham and all about the famous political prisoners that were imprisoned there for their part in the 1916 Easter Rising. We were lucky to go on a trip to Kilmainham Gaol. Have a look at our photographs and read some of our recounts of our trip.
Kilmainham Gaol by Kali
We went to Kilmainham Gaol. My favourite part was going to see Grace Gifford's jail cell. Something new that I learned was that when Joseph Plunkett and Grace Gifford got married Grace bought the ring instead of Joseph because he was a prisoner. I felt chilly in my legs when we were on the yard where the political prisoners were executed. Our tour guide Tom was the best!

We went to Kilmainham Gaol. My favourite part of the tour was learning about Joseph Plunkett and Grace Gifford. I had shivers down my spine at the stonebreakers yard.
