This month we have been having loads of fun in senior infants learning all about school and home. We have been getting into role as teachers, principals, buliders building schools with our blocks and also stepping into the role of mam and dad in the home corner, minding the babies and cooking the food. We became artists with Ms. Mulvany in our art station and designed and painted pencils. We have also been working hard at completing jigsaw puzzles!

Our Road Safety Awareness Beep Beep Walk is this morning for Junior Infants to 1st Classes. You are all welcome to join us. We leave school at 10am. Thanks in advance to our friends in An Garda Síochana who will accompany us. 🙂

We had a lovely walk this morning down to Inchicore with our Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st classes. Our local pre schools also joined us which was lovely. Garda Mark arrived on his bicycle and guided us across the road safely. The children wore their safety vests from the RSA and they know to wear them walking to school and elsewhere in the darker mornings and evenings.

We had a very busy week in school this week for sports week.

We kicked off the week with our annual 6th class vs Staff basketball match. It was a very competitive match but the staff reigned victorious.

Tuesday was volleyball day. Ms Cassidy coached classes on the field. It was great to try out a new sport.

Wednesday was GAA day. David O’Callaghan our coach from Good Counsel GAA club focused on hand passing and soloing. Mr Minogue also did some hurling with classes.

Thursday was dancing day. Kyra from Starlight dancing has been teaching us all over the last few weeks so we finished off with one final dance class for everyone.

We finished off the week with the annual OLOL Olympics. All classes participated in a range of events such as races, basketball, hurdles, welly toss, long & vertical jumps and relay racing. This was the first time we had a full school sports day since Covid and everyone really enjoyed being out around the school together competing again.

Well done to everyone for their participation and enthusiam all week!

This week Senior Infants did a experiment called ‘Fruity sweets colour mixing’.We used skittles, warm water, and a plate. We placed the sweets around the edge of the plate in a circle shape. Then we poured warm water into the middle of the plate until it reached the sweets. The result was that the colours from the sweets met and mixed together like a rainbow. So we learned that the sugar from the sweets dissolved in warm water. We had lots of fun watching the results.

Over the past 10 days we have been very busy doing lots of experiments and carrying out investigations! We held a STEM assembly today where each class told everyone about what they had learned! Everyone really enjoyed learning something new and there was a great sense of curiosity in the hall! Here are some pictures of the different experiments we carried out!
