News - 3rd class
This week in our classroom, we’ve been working on procedural writing- learning how to write clear, step-by-step instructions. To make it extra fun (and just in time for Halloween!), we created gooey slime!
Students brainstormed the materials, wrote detailed steps, and then tested their own “procedures” in real life. We learned how important it is to use bossy verbs at the start of each of the steps to give precise instructions so that anyone could follow along.
The classroom was full of excitement (and a few giggles) as our writers turned into scientists!
Our class has been learning about the incredible artist Alma Thomas. She loved using bright colours and repeating shapes to make her paintings look like mosaics. We looked at her artworks “Pansies in Washington” and “The Eclipse”.
Inspired by her style, we created our own mosaic-style pictures. We used lots of colours and different patterns to make our art stand out-just like Alma Thomas did.
The results are so effective and full of energy! Each piece shows off creativity, imagination, and the joy of making art. 🎨✨
