News - 5th class: Ms M. McCarthy

28th Apr 2025

On Wednesday the 9th of April, 5th class visited Trinity College for their TAP Mini Med Day.

When we arrived at Trinity we were treated to a wonderful talk from Professor Luke O’Neill who spoke to us about Immunology and told the students loads of interesting facts about bacteria and viruses.

After a quick break for lunch, 5th class had the opportunity to become doctors themselves which they really enjoyed. They learned about first aid, took their blood pressure and listened to their heartbeat, looked at X-rays, performed CPR, scrubbed in for surgery, and looked for their reflexes. It’s fair to say we have a few aspiring doctors and nurses among us now.

After all the excitement we thought it was only right to chill out in the sun with some ice cream and talk about our highlights from the day ☀️

What an incredible week of football for our school! Both the boys' and girls' teams competed in their blitz tournaments, showing amazing teamwork, determination, and skill.

We are so proud to share that both teams made it through the group stages and into the finals, playing their hearts out and doing absolutely fantastic! 🎉

Their hard work, sportsmanship, and team spirit were on full display, and every player should feel really proud of how well they did. They represented the school brilliantly and gave it their all right to the very end.

And this is just the beginning — more competitions are coming up in a few weeks, and we can't wait to see these amazing teams back in action!

Well done, everyone! 👏⚽

The students in 5th class are very busy at the moment researching a country in Europe. The class are working in pairs to look up interesting facts about the country such as the population, famous landmarks, their favourite foods, their flag and many other interesting facts.
Alongside this, the class were also learning about Thanksgiving and filled out their gratitude cups including everything that they are grateful for.
In history we are learning about Rosa Parks and some great discussions took place around segregation in America.
Lastly, we are busy practicing our songs for our Christmas concert which takes place in the church on the 17th of December.
