Last week some of our fourth and fifth class children took part in Restorative Practice training with Michelle Stowe from ConnectRP to become Friendship Keeper Buddies for the younger children. They learned how to teach games, facilitate circles and solve arguments.
They put their new skills to use with our first class children, teaching them about fairness and respect while having lots of fun!!
Our Board of Management will be reviewing our Child Safe Guarding Statement and Risk Assessment at our next Board Meeting on September 26th. This will then be available on our website.
Welcome back Everyone!
We have had a fantastic start to First Class.
This week we had dancing with Kyra and we were painting our autumn prints.
Thank you to Ms Mulvaney and the Green Schools Committee who talked us through our recycling procedures this morning at assembly.
We all have days when things don't go well in the morning. If your day hasn't gotten off to a good start, please remember to text "Handle With Care" to the teacher or Miss Hanly.
It’s so hard to believe that we’ve reached the end of the year already, and this term has been jam-packed!
First Communions, STEM week, our school tour to Airfield Estate and sports week are just some of the things that we’ve enjoyed: experimenting with gravity, making friends with 3 week-old calves and getting volleyball lessons from an Irish athlete are just some of the things that have kept us going since Easter.
I want to wish you all a very happy summer holidays and the very best for next year!
Thanks for this year,
Ms. Gorry :)
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of the year, and this final term has been jam-packed!
Some of the class made their First Communion in May - it was great to see their hard work shine through on the day!
We really enjoyed STEM week this month, exploring gravity, making 3D shape monsters and even having a zoom call with a real scientist in Galway!
Our school tour was to Airfield Estate and we had a great day for it - we made a new friend in a 3 week old calf!
Last week the , we enjoyed a wonderful sports week organised by Ms. Cassidy. There was volleyball, hurling, even a bouncy castle!
I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I wish you all the best for next year :)
Ms. Gorry
We had a very busy week in school this week for sports week.
We kicked off the week with our annual 6th class vs Staff basketball match. It was a very competitive match but the staff reigned victorious.
Tuesday was volleyball day. Ms Cassidy coached classes on the field. It was great to try out a new sport.
Wednesday was GAA day. David O’Callaghan our coach from Good Counsel GAA club focused on hand passing and soloing. Mr Minogue also did some hurling with classes.
Thursday was dancing day. Kyra from Starlight dancing has been teaching us all over the last few weeks so we finished off with one final dance class for everyone.
We finished off the week with the annual OLOL Olympics. All classes participated in a range of events such as races, basketball, hurdles, welly toss, long & vertical jumps and relay racing. This was the first time we had a full school sports day since Covid and everyone really enjoyed being out around the school together competing again.
Well done to everyone for their participation and enthusiam all week!
Both 4th classes went on a trip to The Ark for the Rock Paper Scissors Workshop. This was a playful science and art based workshop centred around using different materials to create art. First we observed the artists’ exhibitions and then we experimented with light and shadow ourselves using our bodies to create creatures. We finished our trip out with a lovely picnic in the gardens of Dublin Castle.
Dublin South City Partnership are hosting a course on food on a budget tomorrow in The Barracks.
