Seachtain na Gaeilge takes place next week.
We will celebrate our Irish culture by speaking our native language, explore Irish music and songs. Some classes will practice Irish dancing and we will have lots of craic agus Spraoi on Lá Glas. We will have our annual ceolchoirm on Friday where the children will all perform a song or poem they have learned.
Parents are welcome to come to the junior assembly on Friday where we will have some space set out for you. We can't do at senior assembly unfortunately but videos of performances will be up online.
There is a page on this website for Gaeilge and there are video and audio clips of some basic Irish phrases that you could learn and show your child that you can learn Gaeilge too ☘️🇮🇪
Well done everyone 🙌
It's about the aftermath of Humpty Dumpty falling from the Wall. He overcomes his fears and overcomes obstacles which is a great theme to explore with all ages. The book has wonderful illustrations which we will explore and we are looking forward to some great discussions with the children.
We had a lovely assembly on Friday celebrating the Art of storytelling. Our classes were learning myth/legends from Irish,Greek and Norse mythology. The children showed us the different ways to tell a story and it was great to see such variety in the performances.
We have a storyteller,Aideen McBride, visiting Tuesday, some classes are visiting the library, 6th will read with infant classes, we will have a literacy quiz and also an assembly on Friday where children will do some storytelling of their own .
We hope everyone will enjoy exploring myths and legends and we look forward to hearing and seeing their stories come to life at Assembly.
Senior infants were absolutely delighted to be announced as winners of the Christmas Door Competition in December. The class won a day to trip out to Spraoi in January and thoroughly enjoyed their visit! The pictures below capture all the fun and excitement of the day!
The children sang Christmas songs depicting the story of the Nativity, while 1st class did a freeze frame of the nativity scene.
It reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate it.
Parents Christmas Crafts morning with Senior infants
We had a lovely morning with parents in senior infants this week where we made Christmas Wreaths. Both parents and children thoroughly enjoyed working together to create and decorate their festive wreaths.
We have Been very fortunate to be one of 7 schools to receive ‘Free to be me’ Little Library of approximately 100 books.
Children’s Books Ireland aim to build a love of reading. The ‘Free to be me’ project enables our students see themselves reflected in a book, as well as learning about the lives of others, who’s experiences and perspectives might be different from their own. Here is just a sample of the books. The little library is on display on corridor 3. Each child in our school will also receive a book of their own to take home before Christmas.Archive
